Torque Overload Devices

Morse® and Browning® Torque Overload Devices help protect machinery from overloads or equipment jams. Power Transmission Solutions offers 4 different types of Torque Overload Devices: Shear Pin, Friction Facing, Ball Detent and Cam-Follower; designed for different applications’ accuracy requirements.

Utilizing a torque overload device can help increase production, reduce downtime and prevent costly repairs. These units are available for applications with speeds up to 1800 rpm and trip torque capacities up to 21,500 ft-lbs and accuracy as high as +/-3% to meet the needs of the most demanding applications.

Browning shear pin hubs are designed to shear a necked pin at a predetermined load to protect equipment from overloads. Torque capacity is up to 50,720 in-lbs.
Browning® Torq/Gard® overload clutches are the most accurate torque overload devices that Power Transmission Solutions offers. Torque capacity up to 8000 in-lbs, and speed ranges from 350-1800 rpm.
The Browning® Torq/Pro® overload clutch is a release-type ball-detent style torque overload device with a single position reset configuration. Torque capacity up to 63300 in-lbs, and speed ranges up to 1200 rpm.
The Browning Torq/Pro X overload clutch is a release-type ball-detent style torque overload device with a single position reset configuration with high rigidity and minimal backlash intended for precise positioning for automation systems.
The Browning Torq/Pro Z overload clutch is a release-type ball-detent style torque overload device with a manual single position reset configuration intended for higher speed applications.
The Browning Torque Limiter is a spring loaded friction style torque overload device. The load on the friction pads is adjusted so that the process torque is transmitted, while an overload torque in excess of the set torque causes the unit to slip.
Browning offers a broad line of accessories for torque overload devices for the protection of equipment and machinery. Shear pin hubs consist of 3 separate stock parts – steel sprockets, hub assembly, malleable bushing.
