Hazardous Location Drain and Breathers

Hazardous Location Drain and Breathers

Where condensation may be a problem, drain fittings are installed at the bottom of the enclosures to drain away moisture. Breather fittings are generally installed at the top of an enclosure to allow water vapor to escape and minimize condensation within the enclosure interior. Universal drain/breather fittings provide both functions in a single fitting that can be installed at the top and/or bottom of the enclosure housing. Appleton Group offers fittings for both hazardous and ordinary locations, along with conductive and non-conductive thread/joint lubricants to prevent seizing and galling of these and other threaded components.

Appleton’s ATX DB Series drain and breather valves are flameproof bleed valves used to drain condensation from inside enclosures and boxes
O-Z Gedney DB and DBB valves can be used as in a hazardous enclosure as either a drain or breather
Appleton’s drains, breathers and universal drain-breathers provide for the prevention and or release of condensation when properly installed in the appropriate location
O-Z Gedney STL thread lubricant can be used on any threaded joint to inhibit corrosion and aid in preventing moisture from entering threaded joints while helping prevent seizing and galling
These lubricants have excellent qualities that inhibit corrosion and retard galvanic action on dissimilar metals. TLNC - non-conductive lubricant. TLC - conductive, high-temperature lubricant
