RoHS Compliance

 RoHS Compliance

The purpose of the European Union Directive on the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) is to restrict the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than the agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

All Control Techniques product lines released since 2008 are lead-free and fully RoHS compliant.

Declarations of Conformity, published in the User Guides for each product line, make clear which products are compliant to the recast RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU.

Some legacy products are not lead-free, including spare parts and accessories for use in equipment that is outside the scope of RoHS.

The following categories of electrical equipment are outside the scope of RoHS:

• Fixed installations

• Large-scale stationary industrial tools

From 2017 Legacy non-RoHS product may only be sold in the EU to manufacturers of equipment such as large-scale industrial tools, lifts and fixed installations which are out of scope of RoHS-2.

Control Techniques’ manufacturing plant is approved to the environmental standard ISO 14001, which includes an assessment of the environmental impact of its products. Known hazardous substances are avoided wherever practicable.
